Why not post the images on something like Amazon S3 or Flicker, and then post that url under the comic each week for people to hotlink?

Also we cannot hotlink from other websites, even uploaders. We use Comicpress.

There is a fine line between how an RSS works and hotlinking. With most RSS’, and what I have set up, the RSS does not use much bandwidth at all. Now Hotlinking already has the image loaded on another site causing stress on our server.

God damn, TinyPic and Photobucket (and others, I’m sure) lets you upload any image FROM A URL. If people are so lazy that they can’t copy/paste a URL into a box on an image hosting site BEFORE they copy/paste it into whatever thing they want to share the comic on, then I foresee a lot more problems with the world than bandwith spikes for Squid.

I like to hope that the reason for the hotlinking rash is more along the lines of people not knowing how it affects bandwith than people being too lazy to copy/paste a link twice instead of once.

Why not use adds? Wouldn’t generate save a few bucks? And isnt having more people know about your comic good? Just wondering dont really know how those adds work and I dont have a site of my own so there hahaha

I don’t know how the RSS feed works, I’ve never used one myself and it came built in with the site, but I think Vorked is just asking people to upload the comic to their own image hosts if they want to post it on forums and stuff.
