The one in which Jonesey is the most relatable

Somebody asked me why Jonesey is the only one who always has the same outfit. The answer is because she is the most militantly lazy.
Okay this is the first time I’ve done this, but comments are turned off on this strip. It just keeps getting nothing but “Why isn’t this in colour”/”Where is the color”/”When will this be coloured” comments no matter how much I say “I was too busy to make it”.
OMG she’s totally like Nocchi from the best j-pop band, Perfume!
So, Jonesy is Henry Rollins?
Somebody please make Commander/Henry Rollins slash art happen.
Can I live like Jonesey O:
The only problem with posting them early in black and white, is for us RSS feed users the feed updates when you post the black and white one, but it does not update again when you post it in color, forcing us to manually come back and check in a day or so to see if it’s in color, which defeats the purpose of using the RSS feed in the first place. So I would prefer just waiting a day and posting it in color the first time.
But it’s only a minor inconvenience, and I love your comic c: I can totally relate about the laundry thing too, although quarters isn’t an issue for me because it takes so many now that I just bring a five dollar bill, get it ALL turned into quarters at the change machine in the laundromat, and end up using all of them. I hate laundry.
A better solution would be to have 2 RSS feeds, one for the B/W pre-posts and one for the color posts, so people can decide which they would rather read – the earlier but incomplete one, or the later but complete one.
And then a third RSS feed to…
ow, ow, ok, I’ll stop.
Or you could just read the week before when you get an update
Seconded.
Or, yaknow, you could just… I dunno… check it manually? Instead of proposing a complex solution to a minor inconvenience that not many people share.
Would it be possible to push a little text update just to the rss feed that says ‘color’s up’?
You kids and your Internet feeds and hula-hoops and whatnot. I just write “thep” in the URL field whenever I feel like I haven’t read the comic in a while (usually every 2-3 weeks) and see for myself.
Quite frrankly, I just have all my favorite webcomics saved as bookmarks and open then en masse once every other day. *shrugs* Sorry if that’s too complicated…
Ditto, although it’s more like “every day” for me.
That gets me to thepiratebay. :|
Yeah, that’s my strategy. If I can’t remember the url of the comic and it’s not in my browser history anymore, it means I lost interest. Usually for a reason.
Thep! I pretend I’m saying Shep with a lithp when I type it.
Still not in color.
You don’t say?
Woah, never thought she could be even lazier that Jared O_O Surprising AND funny, loved it. ^^
Gosh how I love you, Coelasquid, for this believable characterization. It’s so hard to find a fictional woman that fills messy bachelor stereotype better than her actual male teenage friend.
Oh, and Commander… Maybe offer your girlfriend to use your own washing machine once in a while?
I also wish I could get a pair of jeans like these… I have like 6 pairs that need fixing just because I wore them at least two times a week.
Doing Jonseys laundry might count as a little more commitment than either of them are up to copping for at the moment. Although they’ve had a Dramatic Adventure together so that might be just lip service at this point.
My dad actually travelled for business under this plan, mostly. He brought one suit and one shirt, then bought a bale of shirts where-ever he was and went through them, then came home with the shirt and suit he left with.
Sometimes he’d keep some of the extra shirts, and they started building up after a while; the good-will cleanout for dress shirts was two garbage bags full :) (but we washed AND IRONED them before donating them)
Must be nice to have money to burn.
Also, since when does letting someone you know, (friend or gf) use your washing machine = OMG they’re so serious! ô_o
Maybe I’m just out of touch but it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me.
It all depends on personal opinion, really. It could be perceived as mixing signals with some in a blossoming relationship. One’s laundry can be a personal thing with your apparel and undergarments. Not many people are comfortable with allowing others to see their soiled clothing, much less someone they could consider having a relationship with.
In all honesty I do agree with you. I allow friends and family to use my washing machine and dryer if they absolutely need to for some ungodly reason because I don’t honestly care – if they run up my electric bill, I ask for some reimbursement depending on how often they use it though. Even before I was married to my spouse, I would do my laundry at his place all the time because I practically lived there. Convenience is bliss.
One hazard with the b/w version–in the first panel with the Commander, I had to do a double-take because I thought he was wearing a lacy bra at first. Nope! Just chest hair!
More like a hilarious “problem” than anything really wrong, though!
Manly men can wear whatever they want. XD
Oh god oh god oh god I can’t unsee it.
Think you can unsee him in a thong?
See, now you’re assumin’ he wears underwear.
Commander always goes commando.
i’m sure he’s wearing something below the belt right now he’s looking after the kids after all
Why would I WANT to unsee the Commander in a thong? Oh, man, I’d hang onto that image… woof!!
good to see I’m not alone~
Stared at the panel a loooong time to make sure he wasn’t. Part of me tried to convince myself he was playing dress up with his kids.
See… I didn’t have that problem… my double take was at the lack of 5-o’clock shadow. His face was so smooth that I thought he went Bi-she again lol!
Also… first time we’ve seen the Commander without the goggles! looks… less “SET CHARACTER DESIGN”-y
LASTLY!!! He don’t wear no shirt under his Biker-coat, but he’s still seems to have a decent wardrobe consisting of Tank-tops and Tees. I’d have assumed he’d just let the pits-n-nips free when ever the situation didn’t call for “uniform”. It IS manly to strut what you got, but I suppose it is also MANLIER to be seen as Manly without going out of your way!
I welcome this bit of character building heartily. We’ve never found out all that much about Jones before, and I love story elements that give me a feel for who these people are.
And I’m once again impressed by the artistic side of things. There is a lot of attention to detail, and every single panel tells the story well enough that one would probably have a decent idea of what’s going on without reading the lines.
Ha! I was almost that bad with laundry in university…I wore the same pair of jeans for an entire semester.
People thought I did that back in college, in actuallity I have 5 pairs of the same shorts and identical black tees.
You mean they noticed and told you? Huh. I don’t know if people noticed me, but they certainly never told me (except, of course, for my mother…)
Yeah well that was Utah, people there are very judgemental about your washing habits.
I’ve been wearing the same pair of shorts for nearly three months, but I only wear them three hours a day, from after I get off of work to when I go to bed
Jonesey… ^^;; That’s just… Eww… Well okay, she DID said that she donate it when she’s done with them. But still…
I wear my jeans (to go to work) for 2 days. But my usual pants for my own convenience in my own house is worth a week or two. FYI, i only use that “House pants” for 6 hours a day, & my jeans is for 12 hours.
…Okay, maybe i’m just as lazy as Jonesey XDDDDD
Unless they’re smelly or had something spill on them, at the very most jeans should only be washed once a week. Too much more and they really wear out.
Clarification please. Is this wearing them everyday for a week or washing them once a week in the course of you regular washing?
Unless something spills on them or they get covered in dirt, grass or fluids I have had a pair a jeans go up to a month or longer without being washed. Unless they are dirty or smelly I don’t wash them. I also don’t spend more than 7-10 dollars on them from good will unless it is a matter of life or pants-less-ness.
I got a weird tendencies to wear anything clean & wash them properly ^^;;
“Properly” in the case of jeans is not more than once a week unless necessary. :p
You’re supposed to wash your jeans?
Lunacy.
Mom says so during my childhood. So… Yeah… ^^;; It’s a habit…
I’m indifferent to the bw/colour/time arguments. I love this comic regardless <3
Hate to admit, I’m just like her. XD
Holy crap I think Jonesey is my spirit animal.
This is the most beautiful comment I’ve ever read.
Yep, just another reason I’d never rent an apartment that doesn’t have a washer and dryer in the unit. I’m just that kind of bastard, I guess.
Also, I don’t mind the B&W comics a bit. All it means to me is that I get to come back and see it again in GLORIOUS COLOR. It’s life’s tiny little bonus moments that make the week bearable, yanno?
Oh man, I absolutely love this page. There’s so much movement going on in it, it’s a wonderful example of staging a conversation while stuff is happening.
I was gonna post just this but I was sure somebody else must have thought it too :)
Last panel is miles of truth.
Urgh! You’re supposed to WASH stuff BEFORE you donate it! It’s not like Goodwill has a massive laundromat! (… Do they?)
That being said, yes, I know people who do things like this. Or, they wait until their friends get so weirded out that they offer their machines or force-march them to the laundromat.
I’m assuming they do, I buy a lot of clothes from good will and they all have the same “good will” smell – IE, not a dirty unwashed laundry smell but a sorta camphor-y mothballs smell.
If they weren’t washing them the clothes probably would not smell like that.
they do, volunteered at a thrift store for awhile, before cloths can be put up for donation or to be sold at a thrift store they get washed, even if it was said they were washed before hand
i dunno… this page is just killer cute n giggly awesome xD
I don’t know, I kind of like the black and white comics. Not being in color doesn’t take away from the awesomeness of the comic.
Second panel in black and white kinda looks like Commander is wearing a lace neglige.
I think it’s because the hair stops exactly at the top of his pecs. Not like it’s a big deal or anything, but it does look funny.
Because that’s where he shaves it to so the hair on his face isn’t touching all of the rest of the hair on his body.
That’s an amusing mental image.
Is that a regulation thing or a personal thing?
You too, huh? Before I started reading the speech bubbles I thought the comic was going in a completely different direction.
I love the B&W releases before the coloring is done. I love the colored ones too, but the B&W fun to see first.
Jared owns many t-shirts with witty slogans and cool pictures on them, is really quite tall, no longer lives with his mother and I somehow doubt the commander pays him enough to be continually replacing them.
Ergo, we may conclude that Jared not only does laundry, he also separates colours and whites, knows to turn printed t-shirts inside out and to wash them on a cool setting.
… or, Mr Fish has powers and abilities heretofore not alluded to.
Lazer fish is now lazer wash fish.
Brilliant!
Mr. Fish uses Hydro Pump!
Laundry has been knocked out!
Now that wouldn’t work
He needs something that uses detergent and fabric softener. Not to mention bleach for the whites.
Actually come to think of it, he probably does the exact sam thing as Jonesy. See he never wears the same thing so either his wardrobe is extensive enough to wear a new outfit every day, or he just gets rid of any clothes he needs to wash.
I kinda like Jonesy’s view of Jared’s laundry habits. I can just picture him taking a shower at the end of the day still fully clothed then “hanging” everything up to dry. Or if he is more of a morning shower person, sleeping fully clothed, then showering, yada yada yada…
Bubble probably.
I actually like seeing the B/W lines, it’s interesting seeing how artists work, with the progression from linework to color.
Here in Brazil you don’t have that big room filled with quarter-inserting washing machines and driers in buildings (never saw that) – usually each home has its own washing machine (and a place to hang it to dry) plus there are laundromats out there.. I´ve one washing machine but need to fix it, so I’m bringing my laundry to my father’s home for now.
Here you tend to sweat a lot on summer (even bathing daily) and the though of donating dirty laundry… *urk* X-P
I don’t blame her for not washing in public washing machines. I once got 90% of my jeans stolen.
Ah that was me, sorry.
Needed coke money.
90% of your jeans stolen?
That musta been weird. Stick three full pairs in, get one pair of Daisy Dukes back out.
I bet Jared washes his clothes via the room filling bubble machine.
Welcome to the internet. where “complain less” is the best you can hope for.
also… Thank You.
The one disadvantage of living with your perants is you can’t pull stunts like that.
Love the way she calls it a “jug” of t-shirts.
This weekend, near the service desk at my supermarket, I saw some small containers that were filled with pressed sports T-shirts.
I have never seen a “Jug of T-shirts” but, given that these little tins that supposedly had 1-3 shirts in them, it would not surprise me if such a thing existed.
This raises an interesting question, how many shirts fit in a 12 gallon jug?
One crapton?
50. Factories love that number.
Am I the only one wondering what ‘Ghat’ means in the second last panel? Can’t figure out what exactly the commander is saying
I hoped in the context of “ghat damn” people would get that it was “God Damn” as in “Ghat dangit, Bobby!”
I got it, and enjoyed the sound in my head.
Same…
And I love the fourth, sixth, and seventh panels.
lol :D
Well now I feel like an idiot
I like the black ‘n’ white posts before the colour ones. Makes it feel like there’s two updates a week instead of one.
Personally I -LOVE- seeing the black and whites first. As a art graduate, I enjoy seeing the process, and watching the change from inked to coloured. I do my own inked/coloured work, and have picked up some techniques from watching yours.
But also, it helps see the magic. I don’t care about the timing issue, I enjoy your comic regardless of when it gets in, and seeing it in progress makes me enjoy it even further. It makes me check more often (I don’t RSS feed, you are a pinned tab in Chrome instead) because I know when the black and whites are replaced by the colours, I won’t get to see them again. That makes them a small perk that lasts a short while.
Keep up the amazing work, and the great view on the various subject matters.
;___; nine quarters really is hard to accumulate, especially when you’re broke.
Mind you wearing your shirt in the shower does totally work.
Wait wait they sell cloths in bulk at Costco?!…I think I’ll start doing laundry the jonesey way
I think it’s neat that you post in both black and white as well as color
How old are those kids? It’s like the commander keeps swapping them out for different time periods. Which he can come to think of it.
Yeah, lets go with that one.
they’ve been five and two the whole time. Granted, the proportions of everything are skewed up and down this comic.
So I take it when she cuts fish up she just donates the bloody clothes to some shelter right after, or She keeps them in a separate room called work clothes and kinda reeks. Can’t look at that one fan art of Jonesey now with out picturing what she does with those clothes.
I kind of forgot what she did for a living, before you said that, but I imagine she has a large apron and other things to keep from getting blood everywhere. Also, if you do it right there is probably less of a mess and if she’s doing it for a job, she must know how to minimize the amount of spillage and such onto her person.
That said, I’m hoping she washes them before donating but… probably not. So they definitely might stink. ^_^;
I think donation hampers filled with heaps of bloody clothing might raise a few more concerns than “hey, these kinda smell!”
I would assume she wears an apron, like all grocery store butchers. And gloves. Seriously, every time I go in they’re almost like doctors.
Last panel – Jonesy’s an anime school girl?
Also, always love Commander with the kiddos. Oh, how I know those mornings all too well. D:
Oh Costco, where you can find a 12-gallon jug of t-shirts next to a bale of underwear and a display of Harry Potter DVDs.
Wow! Jonesey is lazier than I am. I love her for that. Especially since she’s lazier than the Commander (who owns a washer and dryer so doesn’t remember/understand.) Hah hah! I am curious to know if Jared washes his in the shower/tub or if he goes to a laundromat. Or maybe he takes them to a friend’s house. I’m sure he has more friends on the job than just the Commander; we just don’t see it. XD
A) Honestly, I kind of dig the B/W comics, and don’t really make a special trip to see them once they’ve been colored. (I do page back from the current comic, though) You could make the comic 100% B/W and I’d still be here reading this.
B) As terrifying as Jonesy is, I really did have a boss who lived this way. He took his shirts to the dry cleaners, but just kept buying new socks & underwear instead of washing them. His girlfriend said he had a second bedroom that was basically just a big heap of previously-worn whites.
That is the apotheosis of laziness. Jonesy is the Kwisatz Lazyrach.
I too definitely like seeing the lines, so if it’s not a bother to upload twice I don’t see why you’d have to worry about it. :D
And Jonesy. Omg what a wonderful person she is. :D I live with 2 people like this, actually. Though I do their laundry when it appears in baskets by my door … OMG …
Omg is… this going to… >_> lead to something more drastic? I mean, I cried when they first kissed – it was the single most romantic thing I’d ever seen online. Is this potentially going somewhere? O___O
Oh my god. I am Jonesy.
Y’know Jonesy, if you didn’t buy new clothes every time you current set got dirty, you could probably afford to own your very OWN washing machine. Hell, keep at it long enough, and you might even be able to own a dryer as well.
I can say that I don’t mind seeing you post these in black in white first and then going back to color them. Can’t really say if it helps with updating your comic or if it gives you more time to do stuff away from the comic in IRL, but if it works out better for you then you should keep doing it! (Unless a stupid amount of people complain about it even though they are still getting an update either way)
This way people know I finished something and don’t get separation anxiety.
I know an entire family that lives like Jonesey. Which growing up in an OCD fueled clean home I have a hard time imagining how it works.
As much as I hate laundry (just the putting away part), I cannot at all relate to this. I’m gonna have to agree with the Commander.
Somehow Jonesey just got a hell of a lot hotter. Speaking as a very lazy man, I never thought I would find (or hear tell of) a woman more lazy than myself.
OMG Jones is way too much like me, I am both amused and ashamed.
Ahaha, I love Jones. :D I’d probably do that too if I could afford buying new stuff that often.
So Jones has got those Everbuddies jeans? #MBMBaM
I love that podcast. :D
I just wait for the next one, read it, then click back to see the previous one in colour. :)
I can’t say I’d ever thought much about it, but this is pretty brilliant answers.
I can only imagine how dang expensive this must get for her, though.
I kind of wish this would stop showing up in my RSS reader uncoloured. I’d rather just wait until the following day. And it drives me nuts to see an unread item in my comics folder. Blah.
So as it turns out the entire fanbase consists of lazy people who wear the same clothes everyday.
Nice to know.
You go to the bank. You withdraw the amount you would spend at Costco, and you request it in quarters. You wait a few minutes, perhaps, while they get you a box and fill it with coin rolls.
You go to the store and buy a box of ziplock bags. You go home and put nine quarters in each bag until all the bags are full. You leave the bags in a box next to your laundry detergent.
You gather your laundry, the detergent, and a coin bag. You go do your fucking laundry.
~D.
Win.
Jonesy wears boxer for underwear. She is a boss.
Right? That’s really the only thing I care about getting colored this week!
I actually kind of dig seeing it in black and white before seeing the color version, its neat to me.
Bah, complainers. As many above I enjoy the B/W versions about the same as the colored cause I like seeing all the line work and sometimes its harder to appreciate it in the colored versions. Then again not everyone’s an artist so not everyone’s gonna appreciate the art in the same way. At least some people figured out a little trick.
As for jugs of T-shirts…I have seen tins (gods those thing stink around Christmas time) but…a jug of T-shirts…I just want to see what that looks like. An amusing comic to read after starting laundry.
A thought for B/W comics…have you thought about making a coloring book for Manly Men? XD
In the uncolored edition, Commander Badass wears a poorly-fitted floral-print bra beneath his undershirt.
What I can’t wait to see the kids have a birthday with Commander. He’d make it so badass.
Also, B&W before colour is fun. Though with how the comic is cellshaded and all the colours for a lot of things are the same [I. E. Jonesy clothes/Commander Jacket etc]; I’m surprised there aren’t people jumping up and down begging to colour for you. ‘Cause I totally would. Eeyup.
That really does take laziness to artful places. Never in my life have I heard of someone doing such a thing.
haha, I’m not as bad as Jonesey, but…I must say that, on this very day, my mother offered to do my laundry for me and bring it back to my dorm and I accepted. And I HAVE my own washing machine. XD
Gosh the faces of those kids. They look so adorable!
If it makes you feel better I can find something silly to complain about every week.
In all seriousness, I kind of like seeing the comics in black and white first. I don’t know, it makes me feel more involved as a fan. “Here’s version 1.0, but version 2.0 will come out soon. It’s in color and everything.” Like I said, I don’t know, I just like it.
Wait-wait… She can’t ask the laundromat attendant for change but she can continuously buy shirts in bulk? o_ô Ow, my brain…
And eeeewwww, omg… omg… ewwww… No, Jonesey, no. Even with new underwear and the like, pants are going to smell like crotch and ass after about a month and… omg… she works at a butcher shop to boot! OMG! Those pants must reek so bad! DX *Squirms*
Well at least it’s nice to know people can smell her coming from a mile away. *shudder*
I understand how the quarter thing becomes a pain. I converted a large mug into a quarter holder for this very reason and I was near fanatic about picking all the quarters out of my change for everything. It was a small burden off my shoulders when I got a house and my own washer/dryer (to say nothing of not spending an hour or so at the laundromat).
That said, yeah, ew.
Huh. Writing that, I found myself wondering “What did happen to that?” Checked the front closet and the mug is still there along with my smaller change bowl and my foreign/rare coins box three years later.
Good to know since I may have to move soon and, until I could sell this place, I’d have to live in an apartment again.
Is it weird that every apartment I have lived in has had a washer/ dryer? People taking it for granted that an apartment will not have those seems so strange to my spoiled ass >.< I wonder if that is a locational thing, like suburburban apartments vs. urban apartments or something.
Of course I still re-wear clothes several times before washing, especially jeans.
Check to make sure your apartment’s laundry room does quarters before you start collecting them again. I was all QUARTEEEEEERS before I moved into my last place, and then it turns out they use a card system -.-
That is so true. Unless you’re really careful about planning ahead, there’s never enough quarters!
Jones is basically me before I got an apartment off campus with laundry machines in the unit.
The attitude while living on campus was basically “Machines are in a separate building 100 feet away? Fuck that, these clothes don’t smell yet.”
oh wow jonesey is literally me
Whoa. This comic is so Manly even the main female character does Manly things.
I guess Jared is there to “balance” the testosterone, right? :D
This is a manly thing? Most women I know do the jeans thing
admitadly me and most of my friends are in that college age range of maximum lazy
Wait wait wait… are you telling me people can actually do this? Looks like I won’t be needing laundry soap under the kitchen sink anymore…
On the one hand, I find nine quarters at once by virtue of running a five dollar bill through a change machine at the laundromat (Drying is a dollar, and the rest get fed into a pinball machine or Pac-Man).
On the other hand, I actually do do that with my jeans.
I admire you for being one of the few webcomic artists who commits to doing a full page in color every week, but I actually prefer black and white versions of most pictures. Color is interesting, but there are a lot of intricate details that become less noticeable when everything has a different color. Lines are more crisp, and I can appreciate the little things you do like the edging on Commander’s cabinets. So, I personally am enjoying your artwork more since you started posting black and white pictures.
Yeeeah… we have a quarter jar at my place for that purpose. Better than swimming in an ocean of dirty clothes though.
Whenever you think you are posting late, take a look at VGcats xD.
I love the strips that show a slice of Commander’s life at home with his kids: Here he doesn’t even have his ever-present goggles/sunglasses on yet, so it’s a nice look at him getting ready for the day.
Attempting this would be too expensive. That said my mother says that socks never feel right after you first wash them and wishes they would make disposable socks.
http://www.giantitp.com/forums/archive/index.php?t-134197.html
“Christmas Stockings or A Sock for Every Day”
For roughly 33 cents a day in 2009 dollars, plus shipping, your mother need never forego that factory-fresh-sock feeling.
Actually I rather like seeing the ink first. As a fellow artist, I learn from other artist’s styles, and sometimes color gets in the way of that. And once you do put the color up, that gives me more to enjoy and study as I compare the ink to the finished art. Don’t feel bad for putting up the inks. I love it.
hey, i have a young man at home who’s room is exactly like jonesey’s – also. i bet jared uses his bubble machine to wash & laser fish on gentle beam for quick dry!
XD Buy in bulk eh? Nice. And so do know that issue with quarters… T_T
I do like seeing the line arts, so don’t feel guilty! If you need to post late also don’t worry no one is going to die if a free comic is more on the artist’s schedule.
I’m about three days too late with this suggestion, but to end the war between the line-art and colour factions – Why not just post each strip twice? Once in B/W and once in colour.
That way the B/W ones get archived with no extra effort, the RSS feed updates each time – compromise between the factions of this otherwise bizarre argument.
Because I don’t actually care that much and it would shit up my archives.
you take take apathy to a whole new level, just saying’
so apathetic I take a full work day out of my week every week for nearly three solid years to update this comic.
Go be a dick somewhere else, dude.
If it really bothers you that fuckin’ much, go read something else.
Predicted gender stereotypes turned on their HEADS. That is why this specific page is amazing (never say that the comic itself isn’t…). It adds characterization and depth to Commander and Jonesy while poking at the “norms” as well.
It’s the internet. Nobody ever stops complaining about anything, ever.
Ever.
Ever.
I’d call her lazy but uh…I’ve been guilty of habits like this
Because seriously quarters always seem to run out at the worst god damn moment
True that.
That panel of the Commander’s kids having breakfast was so damn adorable.
So… dare I ask… what does she do about bras and underwear?
I’m not sure I really want to know.
That would probably be the “stuff” she is referring to.
It sort of looks like as if Commander is wearing a bra. His hairy pecs. Look like a bra.
GOOD ANSWER
Aww, I remember the quarters thing from college. Since I’ve been home with my family it’s been annoying to have to chip away at the laundry almost every day, but at least it’s better than a small, elusive currency standing between me and clean clothes. I used to run out of regular underthings and have to run to Wal-Mart for a new package at weird hours–or worse, I had to tap my emergency elopement stash!
Dont feel bad about plosting the black and white versions. I’m sure im not the only one that likes them.
I don’t think I can fault her for that…
And as a side note, without the color I had to stare at that first image of the commander for a while, because I saw his chest hair and thought he was wearing a bra. That just didn’t make sense to me.
Oh look the Bottom.
*Puts in some struts and braces to hold up the wall of text ^^
Bacheolor laundry: once every 2 weeks/month
Married laundry: once a week
Kids laundry: hourly
On the bright side you get more page views cause I come back at least twice a day to check if it’s coloured yet!
WOW!!! absolutely adorable! I have always respected Commander Badass, looked up to him even, but I have never wanted to BE him more than in this moment, just so I can say I was bedding that adorable ball of lazy cuteness! >.<
I would actually say I enjoy those black and white versions. It could be fun to have access to both versions on all of the strips. The color and b/w pages.
I was wondering what was wrong with commander and he doesn’t have any goggles on, it’s like seeing someone with no eyebrows.
So Jonesy is basically Foul Bachelorette Frog?
And I can totally verify that this is a thing that is real. My sister has a friend who is rather well off (his parents are, at least), and he literally never wears the same socks twice. He just buys big packs of them and throws them out once he’s done with them. Well, he might donate them now, after my sister explained that most people wear socks until they’re worn out or donate them. Her friend was very troubled by the idea of washing socks, for some reason.
Jonesy, you’re a trip.
Trip is a good thing, btw.
oh no their having their first fight, i hope they don’t break up
I like those adoring looks of the kids. Kind of like how cats love you as long as you, at that exact moment, are giving them food. Or maybe it’s a “Hey Daddy is doing something it must be great because Daddy is great” sort of look.
Just found a 12 gallon jug for sale, but it’s not cheap.

Now all that needs to be done is have someone buy it, fill it with t-shirts, and post pics.
Hey, Commander, how about offering to help her “do the laundry” in your shower? You can make sure it gets soapy all over and thoroughly rinsed out. Perhaps put her through “the spin cycle” while you’re at it?
I do speak from experience here guys, it can be a lot of fun.
Truth. In fact, with current water bill prices we should all start showerpooling.
I totally dig seeing Commander with his hair messy.
You and me both. Saw panel two and noticed the 50% increase in sexy, couldn’t quite place what it was, think you just nailed it.
…In Black and White it looks like the Commander is wearing a frilly bra in panel 2…
No worries, I’ll just start checking the sight on Tuesdays or possibly Wednesdays.
Well its swell that you’ll check the “site” on Tuesdays or possibly Wednesdays. It’s been announced for quite a while now that the comic is now updated on a weekly basis or when ever she can get to it.
But its still great to know when to expect you to roll on thur. Thanks for the update.
I don’t think that was warranted rudeness, Sycis.
I think there was a miscommunication here. All I meant by check was “I’m going to change my reading habits in light of the new schedule that works better for you as a creator” I know that the site only updates once a week and have always read it on Monday.
I was only trying to give fan feedback to the extent of “I do not mind this change and I hope that it works for you”
Perhaps I should have worded it better but it was never my intention to act entitled, it was the opposite.
I love these two so much in this comic. And I’m considering trying either the Jonesy or the Jared way of doing laundry from now on. I just moved from an apartment with a washer to one without, and it’s horrible. People hardly ever use cash to pay for anything these days, so having nine quarters at once? I have a hard time getting four!
He’s such a good daddy ^__^ My mom has a client who’s, old I guess, and doesn’t want to wash socks, so he buys them in bulk and then throws them away when done!
I’m four days late to sayin’ this, but uh..happy birthday, Coelasquid.
I would totally ask Jones to marry me. Her laziness is awesome. No lie.
Commanders chest hair in panel 2 looks like a lacy bra, why am I so turned on.
This! When I first saw it I was like “Is he wearing some kind of sexy lingerie or something?!?”
And then it occurred to me…
Where is the color version?
I was too busy having a real life to make it.
Comments like this make me feel decidedly resentful and less likely to go out of my way to make time.
Oh no! Maybe I can counterbalance it with some happy birthday wishes? :) What kind of cake/ice cream/etc. did you have? <3
Yes, HOW DARE someone simply ask about the arrival of something you said you’d deliver 8 days ago.
I don’t believe I said definitively that I would finish it, just that I felt bad about always posting the strips in black and white before they’re up in colour.
I would think that people could use their rational skills to deduce things like “well maybe if it didn’t get posted it means she didn’t have time” instead of assuming I… just forgot that it wasn’t finished to my usual standard or something like that. I’m a real person. I have a job, I sleep sometimes, if you read the comment on the latest strip you’d notice I had a birthday last week! Sometimes there just isn’t time for my free hobby website.
First off happy birthday. Second I don’t mind the black and white strips. They are just as good as the colored ones. Please keep up the great work :)
In my opinion, you posted what you needed to – there was a strip posted last week, that should be good enough. Color -can- wait, the content is more important.
To be fair the caption of the comic does say “I really do feel bad about posting these in black and white a day before the colour all the time, but it seems to make people complain less so whatever.”
A day before the color seems to imply the color would be posted the next day. It’s not really unreasonable for someone to think “Oh well she forgot” or something.
To be fair, this is a free comic that she does as a hobby and it’s silly to debate this kind of thing. Even if she did forget, the fact that this isn’t her job means that people should proooobably tone down the entitlement thing, enjoy the comic and move on with their lives. As “fair” as it is to get picky about what her language implied, it shouldn’t be an issue in the first place.
And for the record, I dig the black and white stuff. It’s just as funny as it is in color.
What caused me to comment in the first place was that someone merely asked when the color version was coming and coelasquid acted like they WERE being entitled, when they’re simply asking a question.
There weren’t politely asking when I was going to colour it, they put “where is the colour version” in every comment field, which is rude and impatient. There is none, there never will be at this rate, thanks, goodbye, everyone can stop sending me daily messages about it.
Weird how snippy people get about free things, like they were entitled to them out of habit. Would colors make the joke any better?
How about if I color it for you?
Am I the only one that still wants color?
People who complain about a comic not being posted in color clearly don’t read Nerf This, where updates are promised and then sometimes don’t come for a week+. :/
Wait so does this mean Jones is the least fashionable?
OMG! This is totally my old room mate. I can’t recall him ever once using the laundromat in our building…we lived together for 3 years!
So… Is this one not getting colored in then? I love seeing the commanders kids, and the stuffed shark.
I would love to see this comic colored
Is this page going to be colored?
Only if you don’t want a new comic next week.
I can live with that :P
I don’t want to deal with the whining, so sorry. (I’m not actually sorry)
