Plea to help buy back and preserve sacred Lakota land from highway development

The video basically says it all;

This land has an extremely important spiritual significance to the native people of the area, and the owners are looking to sell it in the near future. Certain parties have expressed interest in running a highway through the land, so the seven bands of the Oceti Sakowin are trying to pool their resources to buy, if not all 2000 acres, at least enough strategic plots to prevent the construction. They have an Indiegogo page set up to accept donations from the general public, as well as more information over here.

Late for a good reason this time

I’ve mentioned this over on Tumblr, but I was in a car accident this weekend. My boyfriend broke two bones in his leg, I walked away with some bruised ribs and a chipped tooth, the car is most likely going to be written off, and I just got back from the hospital and getting him all set up at his mom’s place while he waits for surgery a couple minutes ago. I’m still gonna try to get a strip up this week, but, you know. Can’t exactly plan for car crashes.

MGDMT doesn’t have a table, but I’ll be at the Womanthology booth Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:30AM-1:30PM if you want me to draw beefy dudes on any of your stuff. I’ll also be on the Womanthology panel Thursday from 4-5PM in room 25AB.

I also plan on reprising this Comedienne costume at least one day, so keep an eye out for it if you want a high five or anything like that.

There’s been some confusion over what exactly is the plan for the funds raised by the Dick Figures Kickstarter, so Ed and Zack made this helpful video to break down the budget and show a little bit of what goes on behind the scenes.

I can’t tell everyone how much the support means to all of us at Six Point!

This is more of less the same post I had on Tumblr, but it’s really important(!!!!) so I’m posting it here too. If you want to skip all the gum flapping, the kickstarter I’ll ultimately be pointing everyone to is over here.

The folks in my audience may not know that I work at Six Point Harness animation studio (the folks behind Nickelodeon’s El Tigre, MTV’s Good Vibes, The Drawn Together movie, and more). And you may or may not know that Six Point is home to Ed Skudder and Zack Keller, creators of the Mondo series, Dick Figures. You probably remember it from posting animated gifs of the characters doing funny things on your tumblrs a lot.

The style of Dick Figures is very much about using simple character designs to allow animation quality you wouldn’t normally be able to pull off with a youtube series budget. The people here work very hard on it, and have really made something to be proud of.

Some fans have expressed interest in a Dick Figures movie, so Ed and Zack have decided to take it to kickstarter. Crowd sourcing the movie like this means that they would be able to make it their way, without having to rely on producers who would turn the process into a matter of committee approval and quite likely turn it into something completely different than the creators envision.

Funding this project would be amazing, it would completely revolutionize the options available for the creators of animated features in this day and age.

The kickstarter is asking for $250,000 for a half-hour special, but if we make it to $700,000, we can produce a full hour and a half feature film. Contributing to this kickstarter, or even just spreading the word along means you are personally supporting the livelihood of every person in our studio.

And I cannot stress how much that means to all of us.
