I feel like this is the first actually funny MGDMT premise I’ve come up with in months.
Oh yes, I like this this is funny shit.
Well, I giggled a hearty bit.
I was hoping McCree will mutters, “It’s High Noon…” & Genji run like hell. :D Lol.
Please any Genji main would just pop deflect at the PERFECT time.
And any McCree main would have already baited it out of him beforehand.
…Of course, we’re both talking about the high levels of play, not bronze rank “Widow and Hanzo who can’t aim with jump-happy Genji and Lucio doing zilch all to be useful paired with Reaper spamming his emotes and Symmetra complaining she has no healing despite being a support”.

Really though, I’ve met a fair number of people that have gone through trauma (physical or otherwise) and if you can make a joke about it, you’ll probably get better eventually. Laughter is the best mental medicine.
Though, admittedly, robo-prosthetics help.
Between these two and Gabriel’s showing in the Uprising comic from Blizzard, I’m beginning to feel that Blackwatch is populated entirely by sassy bitches.
Can you imagine Gabe just looking at a potential recruit for Blackwatch and going “Sorry kid but unless you can sass me while writhing in pain and about to die Blackwatch just ain’t for you.”
Based on some of the in-game dialogue, there is a good chance this is canon.
I’m mohstly blind in my left eye, and while it’s sensitive to light and hurts like a bitch made out of heated needles when flashing lights or hi-beams are involved, I’ve learned to live with it.
Heck, my left eye sucks, I broke my left clavicle by slamming nearly neck-first into a tree at ~15 mph at age eight, cracked my left leg’s tibia and shattered my left ankle when I got run over by a car at age five, and have a deep, circular scar on my left hand from this one time when my uncle startled me while I was adjusting the blade’s position on one of these when I was 17. Oh, and I tore my left ACL when I was 19 due to dislocating my knee, slamming into the ground, and relocating it that way.
Everything that’s ever gone wrong for me has always happened to the left side of my body, but don’t worry! I’m all right now.
It’s kinda ironic because I’m actually blind in my right eye and I have had to learn how to cope and I always hit my right side on things. :D
I too have a cosmetic right eyeball.
I’m also blind in my right eye. Lost sight in it when I was eight. I feel like I’m one of those Skyrim characters who all had the same injury. I even had a cat who was missing her right eye.
Anyone else with right eye problems here?
I am legally blind in my left eye, does that count?

Also Genji’s expression in the last panel is just perfect. You can really see the “That f**ker just completely negated my insult and threw it back in my face! And the worst part is he’s absolutely right and I can’t say anything about it without sounding like a whiny b**ch!” boiling up inside him.

A couple years back I broke my right arm and had to have it surgically repaired. In the process of the surgery, the nerve got damaged, and I lost all use of my right hand for 2 months, with very limited use for another 4. I got really depressed about it in those first 2 months before it started to recover, and my dad’s response was to point out that my aunt, who was born with a deformed right arm, has never had a right hand and she gets along just fine. He didn’t seem to grasp the difference between living the entirety of your life without a hand and losing your dominant hand after 26 years and having to relearn how to do everything.
Then, a year later my roommate fractured his right elbow and couldn’t really bend his arm much for a few weeks. About a week into it I heard him shouting about how hard it was to put socks on one handed. I laughed at him, and he got mad at me until he remembered my arm a few seconds later. But it’s alright, he gets me like that all the time because I tend to forget he lost his sense of smell after a botched sinus surgery and ask him to smell stuff.
So this one kind of resonates with me.
Oh my god this killed me. This made me laugh harder than anything else in the past month.
Well this one is indeed funny, but the previous ones weren’t bad. I look at the Addam’s family one, and I just think Amelie’s dream should be canon. It wasn’t laugh out loud funny but it was character development done absolutely right.
Also, the easter alien eggs and Gabe’s mask were delightful sillyness.
Agreed. I manage to smile every week at the worst, and frequently laugh to myself. Last week’s Addams Family one caused my parents to crack up when I described it, so that’s another success.
Sure, sometimes there’s a character I don’t know or a joke or visual that flies right over my head (like the Alien eggs), but the general context still works.

I like seeing Genji as kind of a dick. Apparently he was a pretty huge jerk before he met Zenyatta.

I’ve thought plenty of your recent comics were funny…. But maybe you’re distinguishing “a funny comic” from “a funny premise”?
(I’m not saying this one isn’t funny, but since I don’t play overwatch I didn’t really “get it” and thus didn’t laugh; I think you need to have a vague understanding of a characters’ personalities to fully appreciate it.
Whereas e.g. Kratos is iconic enough that even though I hadn’t played the God of War games, I knew enough about his “anger issues” that all of those comics were gold)

Not really TBH, most of the joke is that Genji lost almost all of his body.
I’m not a big gamer so half the characters I only know vaguely about or I don’t know about at all, and I still find 98% of Coelasquid’s comics frikken hilarious
Oddly enough, this is actually one of the few Overwatch comics I have found funny. Normally I hate the characters and groan whenever I see one, because it’s going to be a niche comic that requires knowledge of the game’s characters to enjoy.
Here, not so much.
Cowboy man loses left arm. Cyborg man taunts him because cyborg man has obviously lost more. Witty retort points out cyborg man has not lost his left arm, and doesn’t know what it’s like, with humour coming from the fact that he’s obviously lost most of his body, just not the left arm. You don’t really need to know the characters at all. (I can see the characters tagged as Genji Shimada and Jesse Mccree, but I honestly don’t know which is which, and can only guess based on the title, the fact that cyborg man looks Asian, and the fact that Jesse Mccree sounds like a cowboy name).
This is another one of those pages where ever expression on it is good. Especially that very last one.
At first I was, “Won’t it grow back?” Then I realized he only bears a striking resemblance to Wolverine and that doesn’t translate into actually having his powers.
If only it worked like that…
Needs to emphisize the “Left arm” specifically, the arm most guys use when jacking off, if you’ll exscuse my crassness.

I think it depends on when you grew up. Internet porn probably caused a massive shift from right to left hand, because most people use the right hand for the mouse, so it’s easier to go lefty and continue using your right hand to browse images than it is to switch to using the mouse left handed. With a magazine it’s not that much harder or more awkward to turn the page using your non-dominant hand.
Or at least that’s what I think.

I’ve pretty much loved ALL the jokes in your comics over the last few months, so even if you don’t feel great about them, we have still been enjoying them.

Having the original voice actors do most any of the mgdmt comics they appear in would be fantastic.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they actually did.
Does anyone know what Genji actually did lose? I can’t tell if he still has his legs or did he just lose a chunk in the middle or…?
I guess I was expecting a shift to a combination of dry humor and scenes that make me smile from warmed cockles or subverted expectations, because I really liked the past few months of comics. Not that I dislike this one, but I just wanted to be on record that this comic is still wonderful, and any apparent slump in humor sure didn’t show up for me.
Besides, I’ve imprinted on these characters, and there’s no going back now! :D
Never actually played the game, but reading comics like yours and some others I’ve seen.. I’m holding the characters to this level of canon in my head and just enjoy the sassy bitches!
To be fair, they can be PRETTY DAMN SASSY in-game too. At least some of them. Especially McCree (the cowboy).
MCree? Sass? dude only has stock John Wayne/Clint Eastwood phrases for dialogue lol. I think he’s actually a robot stolen from a pier carnival shooting gallery who has gained sentience.
Both of those characters are pretty awesome tho so McCree is therefore just as awesome if not more cause bot-hand

I don’t know how you’ve done it, but you’ve made a comic where every panel is a reaction image. Well done.
If I may make a friendly critique, no hostility intended (I’m not on the comments’ section enough to know if you take criticism well, but you seem like the type not to get bent out of shape about it), I find it weird how Genji keeps saying “left arm”. I understand why it’s part of the set-up, but nobody would specify that when it’s obvious which arm is missing. I think the same effect could have been achieved and sounded more natural by leaving the “left” out of Genji’s comments and having McRee place emphasis on it when he says it. “It ain’t exactly like you know what it’s like to lose your LEFT arm.” That being said, I love your OW comics. They are one of my favorite ‘series’.
I chose to have him keep saying it because he’s emphasizing that it was just one, single, solitary piece of him that was cut off by being very specific about it as opposed to Genji’s 75% bodyectomy. I waffled back and forth on different phrasing but ultimately decided I liked it better this way.
That’s fair. Him singling it out as only a single piece missing makes more sense than why I thought you’d included it.
I assumed it was just to emphasize the fact that it was the same arm in case someone didn’t realize McRee was only missing his left arm and Genji pretty much only KEPT his left arm.
aI just assumed he was pointing it out because McCree is right handed. more of a “oh no. you lost the hand that you don’t even do anything with.”

It was already funny, but it’s even better with Genji’s bugged out red eyes in the final panel.
Last time we saw Mcree he was just happy to be squeezing cow titties, how he’s grown. Into a total snarkmaster.
So this is what Jared grows up to be. I guess it kinda makes since, Jared is already an animal tamer (albeit primarily aquatic animals), so becoming a cowboy doesn’t seem to far off a stretch.
Also I pity whatever took his arm off, because Mr. Fish WILL HAVE REVENGE.

First of all, hilarious comic. It’s been said a ton already, but it deserves to be said more, about ALL your comcs.
Second, and marginally relatedly, the site is doing a weird thing when viewed through Safari on an Ipad. The comic itself got shifted over to underneath the advertisement banner, and everything else has moved up to fill the space. Is anyone else seeing the same thing I am? Or is this possibly another sign of my Ipad committing slow suicide?

Well at least you feel correctly. Maybe next time you feel like a dick you won’t post, maybe not… it’s a process, it takes time, but you’ve got the first step: “Know when you’re being a dick.” The second step is: “Instead of being a dick… don’t.”
