Okay, hopefully after all the wasteland shenanigans wrap up I’ll have some free time again and be able to breathe. If you happen to be there, look me up, I’ll be wearing an entire boar pelt.
Ha! Is there an Immortan Woo? Woocutter? Auntie Woontity?
The Gywoocopter Captain
The Ayatollah of Wok and Rollah
The insidious evil of Woo Manchu?
Im going to need to see pictures of you wearing this boar pelt
Who runs WokWok Town?
Wok Woker Runs WokWok Town! :p
You know Coelasquid, if you ever wanted to just take a week off to catch your breath, I don’t think any of us would hold it against you.
Seconded. Although, if you told me that I had a beautiful body, I WOULD hold that against you…
Seriously though, I think you would be justified in starting an “end game” arc to close out the comic. You’ve provided us more free entertainment than we could have asked for/expected. Even and ending arc would be like frosting on top of the icing on top of the sugary-semi-solid, on top of the cake that we’ve already gotten (i.e. unnecessary). Just my two cents.
PS, I am not super confident I used “i.e.” correctly…
I’m not sure she’s got any interest in *ending* the comic, though – a few more weeks of guest strips would be fine by me, letting her catch her breath and make a couple as a buffer. Most of the comic’s strips are timeless, being equally funny then and now, so we usually wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between something penned a week or two ago and something sketched up a few hours back.
I agree. I worry that she’s going to burn herself out. I did that to myself years ago, and I still haven’t fully recovered. Coelasquid, you are an amazing cephalopod. If you need to take some time off, we will still be here when you get back. <3
Although there is something to be said about breaks ‘interrupting’ your flow. If you feel that’s the issue, then your ‘break’ could be as simple as you just posting sketches or random stuff- not nearly as much work, but you still have the experience of posting something to keep you ‘in the habit’.
Truly, the fact that the comic has had as strong a run as it has for as long as it has while being what is effectively a side project is nothing short of superhuman.
As much as we love this comic, I think we would all love to see you take a break and rest in order to avoid wearing yourself out even more.
Really, there is no shame in taking a hiatus, with or without guest comics.
I think people tell ms Coela this relatively often, but then she fields the wankers who DO hold it against her in less visible channels, where we don’t get the opportunity to dogpile on them and they’re just being shitty to her in a 1 on 1 forum. She’s talked about it before. I’d be frustrated too if people who never had to deal with the bullshit told me they were sure the bullshit wouldn’t happen. *shruggin*
I’m perfectly happy to just be impressed with the terminator responsible for this comic. And ha, ha ha, I am not interested in helping a terminator how to do their thing.
*telling. Telling a terminator.
Lots of artists make free content as side projects. Not for exposure or money, but because they’re doing something they love and want people to see it. They do this while working jobs and/or raising families, so when their “fans” try telling the artist they owe them entertainment, those people need to be punched in the nose.
Oh absolutely, but the artist shouldn’t have to deal with that themselves whilst other fans tell them such a thing would never happen
People say this a lot, and Coelasquid talks about how frustrating it is on twitter, so, like, please don’t in the future? Partly because she does get grief from people when the comic is late or not in colour, and partly because she puts a lot of work into having an update every week for years.
Not saying she shouldn’t post an update (it’s when the artist’s disappear without leaving a note that get some people), but her true loyal fans would understand if she needed a break
And I’m just saying that she has personally said she still gets harassed even if “true loyal fans” understand, and called it “a big pet peeve” to tell her to just take a break whenever it’s slow or time is tight. And when someone has stated repeatedly that they don’t like being told a thing, arguing about how you have good intentions for telling them a thing doesn’t really help.
Actually, wasn’t ‘telling’ her to do anything, was just typing how, personally, would understand if she ever did decide to take a short break
It is not healthy (mentally or physically) for an artist creator to continue to push themselves continuously, would be sad if she suffered a breakdown like at least one other artist
That pun was terribly wonderful and also wonderfully terrible. Applause!
The cutest little terror of the post-apocalyptic Australian wastelands there ever was.
Not quite as cute as Junkwok and Roadwok, though, just to keep it on the Overwatch theme. One has a big feathery bomb, the other has a massive claw on a chain.
PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!
You did it now, you mistepped and now the floodgate of puns is open. Should’ve learned how to wok without rhythm.
…You’re a bad person. XD
…I really am. Lord help me, I just love a good bad pun.
But the puns must flow!
Hilarious! That needs to be a boss in a game somewhere, or Mad Max’s sidekick. Borderlands maybe?
Princess and Survival Games Commander had a fusion accident, I see…
Was wondering if that was Princess
I kinda love this.
This seriously needs to be a t-shirt…
Having never seen the original Mad Max movies, I had to google this to figure out what was going on. I have some regrets, but now also have an overwhelming urge to go watch the original Mad Max movies. >_>
The trick there is to have a somewhat different expectation, going into each film. Mad Max itself is a classic 1970s ‘societal collapse’ horror flick. The Road Warrior is a punk-Western action movie. Beyond Thunderdome is… well, it’s *good;* but it’d be the easiest one to turn into an open-world computer RPG and my God that’s what Fallout 5 should be let’s just have the PC go to goram Australia and take over Bartertown.
…Now *I* want to go watch the original Mad Max movies.
They’re good, but the pacing is very different from modern movies.
The day I got to watch Thunderdome, I realized that the entire Fallout and Borderlands franchises are nothing but uninspired plagiarism… Just kidding, or rather exaggerating. But yeah, the amount of ideas and concepts that Fallout and Borderlands have taken from Mad Max is really impressive.
I support Fallout 5 being in Australia if it means we can run into Junkrat and Roadhog.
Hey Coela, I’ve been a long time reader but haven’t commented before. I just wanted to chime in to agree with the others. We want you to be happy and healthy, and if that means we don’t get a new strip for a while, then so be it. You’ve given so much to your fans, and while there will be the negative, selfish idiots out there, those of us who matter would rather know that you are taking care of yourself first. You are insanely talented, and I look forward to new comics, and hope that you continue this out of love, instead of obligation, when you are ready. That being said, if you don’t want a hiatus, then of course don’t take one. We care about you and just want to see you have the best life you can.
If someone isn’t cosplaying this next year at Comic Con, I’m moving to the dimension where they will be. Because this is epic.
You know where the Epic Jar is.
LOL I do. Maybe we should empty it and make this adorable monstrosity a reality!
Please, for the love of everything that is awesome, put this on a t-shirt.
I’d buy one! It would match my other Lord Humongous shirt that I bought because Coelasquid posted a picture of it on Tumblr.
Like button in my mind. Clicked.
OMG CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3
Seconded. Congratulations! Awesome choice of wedding venue, too.
Thirded. I’d say the theme was very well-chosen for who you’ve shown us you are, and I hope you get, have, and keep all the happiness you deserve from it.
Again, congratulations on your wedding, and I’ll restrain myself from typing all the wedding-themed lyrics Gilbert and Sullivan wrote.
Wait, she got married? I should get on twitter so I can keep up with things…
If you made a t-shirt with the wokwok-raptors I… I would buy it. I NEVER buy t-shirts over the internet, but I want some fat dinos on my body, now.
And yes, I do realise there may possibly be some unintentional humour in that last statement.
Why does google say “This site may be hacked” for this website?
I also saw that for a time. I’m glad it got resolved and hopefully it wasn’t too involved of a fix. Sometimes stuff is good for a story, but sometimes it’s just a pain in the ass.
Gotta say I love the comic I post about talk to and message all my friends about it it’s easily becoming one I regularly watch (along with like 13 others but this ones in my like top 3) so just wanted to say thank you for making this wonderful master piece
Also thought I should chime in I agree with the previous guys thank you for all you do and a well deserved break is in order we love all you do and don’t want you to hurt yourself over us please stay happy healthy and amazing…and Rad
I love this thing. I will admit however, I kinda miss the mister fishy shenanigans. although Canadian guy is fun as well. OH MY GOD. can we see what misadventures jared, mister fishy, and Canadian guy get up to when commander baddass rock lobster goes on vacation or back to the future or something? suddenly its a pile of bidoof pelts as tall as a rifle. WHAT JUSTICE WOULD BE DONE. it would be beautiful.
that reminds me… if he gets that many beaver pelts every morning… what does he do with them? does he have a room where everything is upholstered in beaver pelt and knitted stuff? I’m genuinely curious now.
also sorta curious about who is the current gym leader of the business. hehe, watch it be kratos: gym leader of war. XD think his username would be some sort of ancient greek callsign? delta epsilon beta omega sigma sigma. he is… DE BOSS
So deadly…So cute…
Someone apparently went to Wasteland Weekend cosplaying as Mad Moxie. 100 points for Sanctuary.
THERE HAS BEEN WOO MUCH VIOLENCE
I want a fluffy raptor plushie. Like the T-Rex from dinosaur comics https://www.topatoco.com/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=QW-TREX-SQUISH
